Gooral, or Mateusz Górny, is a DJ and producer, and his music is – simply put – a mix of world electro with highlander folk.
Gooral comes from Bielsko-Biała, he started as a ski instructor and then studied physics. In 2003, he made his solo debut with the remix of “Whole Lotta Love” by Led Zeppelin, and later played in the collective.
– I really wanted to come up with something new. It was a time of popularity of the “Buddha Bar” and “Karma Collection”, when producers from the West went to Tibet and got the inspiration from the local culture – he said in one of the interviews. – I liked it very much. At the same time I realized that I myself have mountains in front of me, I see them every morning. I also remembered about a friend who went to school in traditional highlander costume when I was a few-year-old living in a block of flats. I asked if he would like to try cooperation. After some persuasion, he said it’s cool. With Maciej “Kamer” Szymonowicz we established the band Psio Crew.
Gooral’s solo career, invariably attached to his native folklore (and to his collaborators, to whom he remained faithful despite the change of colours), started in 2012 with the release of the first album “Etno Elektro”, with the gigahit “Karczmareczka” with 6 million YouTube hits. He has played hundreds of club concerts since his spectacular debut, performed at the Przystanek Woodstock, Open’er, Exit, Sziget, Colors of Ostrava, Orange, Coke, and Audioriver Festivals, shared the stage with the legendary Mazovia, traveled to Japan, Canada, Azerbaijan and most European countries.
